During the single elimination matchup between Arkansas and Murray St., pitcher Gage Wood became the first pitcher since 1960 to throw a no-hitter in the College World Series. That is, Wood threw 19 K's and 120 pitches en route to a 3-0 victory.

When being interviewed Wood was actually critical of himself for not completing a perfect game, as he hit one batter.
"I shouldn't have hit the guy," Wood told the reporter after being asked to describe his emotions.

To point out, following the win, Wood gave his dad a great belated Father's Day present, as he tossed him the game ball.
Ultimately, this may actually be one of the greatest pitching performances in baseball history. To note, there was a similar performance in the 2019 college baseball Super Regionals, as Vanderbilt pitcher Kumar Rocker also threw a 19-strikeout no-hitter. Yet, Wood completed this feat in Omaha, making it all the more special.
In view of the previous other two no-hit games in the College World Series: (1960) Oklahoma St. pitcher Jim Wixson threw a no-hitter vs. North Carolina, (1950) Texas pitcher Jim Ehrler completed a no-no vs. Tufts.
Arkansas now moves on to play the loser of the UCLA/LSU matchup, and are currently one win away from the MCWS semifinals.
