A lighthearted moment at New England Patriots training camp took an unexpected turn for wide receiver Kendrick Bourne on Saturday.

Bourne was speaking with reporters after practice at Gillette Stadium when one complimented his outfit. The nine-year NFL veteran smiled and credited his wife, Vanessa, for putting his look together.
"Shoutout to my wife. She's going to love this. She puts it all together for me," Bourne said. "She's behind it all."
Then another reporter jumped in (nervously) and asked if he could get her number "in the respectful way, for the strictly wardrobe part."
Bourne stopped mid-thought. "Hold on, what do you mean? Hold on. What is he asking?" he said, as the group around him broke into laughter.
The Patriots receiver took it in stride, declining to hand out his wife's phone number but offering her Instagram account instead for anyone looking for fashion advice. It was the kind of August exchange that happens before the regular season starts, when players and media are still loose and in good spirits.

Bourne, 29, is entering his fourth season with New England after spending his first four years in San Francisco. He played college football at Eastern Washington from 2013 to 2016 before signing with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent.
In New England, Bourne has been a steady contributor, catching 55 passes for 800 yards and five touchdowns in 2021. He battled through injuries in 2023, including a torn ACL that ended his season in Week 8, but re-signed with the Patriots on a three-year deal in March 2024. He opened this season on the physically unable to perform list before being activated on October 5.
If Saturday's reaction is any indication, Bourne is healthy, upbeat, and ready for the year ahead — even if he has to protect his wife's phone number along the way.
