Skip Bayless has built his career on hot takes. Now his wife, Ernestine, is joining in.

The longtime sports commentator, who stepped away from his FS1 show earlier this year, has been posting videos to X featuring his own commentary — and recently, a guest appearance from his spouse. In the 10-minute clip, Skip asked Ernestine for her thoughts on one of football's biggest off-field storylines: the relationship between Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and music superstar Taylor Swift.
Ernestine did not hold back.
"This year I was really dreading the reemerging of Taylor Swift with Travis Kelce," she said. "And then we go into the [Patrick] Mahomes thing with the wife [Brittany], and it's like, this is bigger than football. Now the focus is really on them as opposed to football. Why does this keep going?"
Skip, never shy about pushing the conversation along, chimed in with his own take.
"It's because she is she. She is it," he said, noting that Swift's recent appearance on the New Heights podcast broke viewership records. He called Swift's connection with Kelce "shrewd," adding, "It's a great look for her to be with the tough big football player. It's a good fit."

The Swift-Kelce relationship has been one of the most talked-about subplots in the NFL for two seasons now. Broadcasts often cut away to shots of Swift in the suites, generating both enthusiasm from fans and frustration from others who feel the focus should remain on the field. Offshore sportsbooks have even set odds on the number of times Swift would be shown during games.
For Ernestine, the attention has overshadowed football itself. For Skip, it's just another cultural moment intersecting with the sport he's built his career around debating.
The Chiefs will begin their title defense on Sept. 6 against the Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil. Swift is not scheduled to perform that weekend, which means another round of speculation over whether she will be in attendance.
One thing is clear: the Swift-Kelce story has grown so large that even the Bayless household can't help but weigh in — and, as usual, they are not keeping their opinions to themselves.
