In a video posted to her Instagram Story on Monday night, Richardson spoke publicly about the July 27 incident at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport that involved her boyfriend, fellow sprinter Christian Coleman.

"I'm holding myself accountable," Richardson said. "I see myself. I'm taking this time to not only see myself but get myself a certain level of help that overall is gonna reflect who I truly am in my heart, in my spirit."

Richardson also said she had put herself "in a compromising situation but somebody that I have a deep care and appreciation for as well."

According to authorities, Richardson was arrested on a charge of fourth-degree domestic violence after shoving Coleman into a column and later throwing a pair of headphones at his head. Surveillance footage from the airport captured the incident as the couple exited a security checkpoint.

Richardson spent roughly 19 hours in jail before being released. The case was dropped after Coleman declined to press charges, saying he did not want to be a victim. Coleman has since defended Richardson, saying she should not have been arrested.

The two have been together for two years and went public with their relationship in February.

Richardson, 25, is a two-time Olympic medalist and the reigning 100-meter world champion. She has an automatic berth in the 100 meters at next month's World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. Until then, she says her focus will be on addressing personal issues and getting herself to a better place.
